What do little reindeer do before they learn to fly?
Well, that’s a question that little Dixy has asked himself as well. After all, he can’t spend the entire month just munching on his favourite cookies… (At least that’s what the elves say - apparently even little reindeer need to eat their veggies. Which is reasonable. But do they have to take up so much precious stomach space that could be filled with gingerbread instead?!)

Oh, what conclusion he came to?
Maybe it’s coming to your home in the lead up to Christmas and spread some festive magic! Who says only flying reindeer can be Santa’s little helpers?

Wether you make him as an alternative/companion to the famous scout elf, to give some fun and joy to your loved ones, or just to sit on your shelf and look cute - he’d be delighted to be part of your Christmas this season!

Yarn
The Reindeer in the pictures was made using Rico Design Ricorumi DK (25g = 58m/63yds) and Rico Design Ricorumi Twinky Twinky DK (25g = 57m/62yds)
You can use any yarn (and hook) of your choice.
I recommend using 100% cotton yarn since this is best for achieving a structured fabric that won’t stretch out over time, preventing holes for the stuffing to peak through.
(If your gauge differs from the gauge suggested, your reindeer will also be a different size)

Construction
This amigurumi pattern is constructed in pieces, worked in spiral rounds (some of which using colorwork) and exclusively using single crochet stitches, increases and invisible decreases.
In the end, the pieces are sewn together using the tails of yarn left after fastening off.

Difficulty
Advanced crocheter or adventurous beginner
(I don’t recommend this pattern as your first ever amigurumi pattern)
