Donut Socks - knitting pattern

“Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole”
as David Lynch, my favourite director and artist, used to say.
That same philosophy guides me in my everyday life. I hope that the positivity behind these donut socks influences you too!

ABOUT THE PATTERN

The socks are knitted in the round, seamlessly from cuff to toes. First you knit the picot cuff which you will then fold in half and knit together. Next you knit the rest of the sock according to the colorwork chart. The sock is worked in stockinette stitch. The heel is constructed with the heel flap and gusset.

SIZES

1 (2) 3 (4) are dedicated for 18.5 (20.5) 22 (23.5) cm /7.28 (8.07) 8.66 (9.25) “ in circumference around the foot.

Measure the ball of your foot (the widest point of your foot behind the toes) and choose the closest size of those mentioned above. You are most likely in between the sizes, so I suggest choosing the smaller one, so that the socks fit better and do not fall off while wearing. The length of the socks is adjusted along the way.

The sizes above correspond to the stitch counts:
56 (64) 72 (80) stitches in the round.

GAUGE

38 stitches in 10 cm/4” (9.5 sts in 2.5 cm/1”) and 57 rounds in 10 cm/4” (14 rounds in 2.5 cm/1”) in stockinette measured on a non-stretched sock, worked in the round, before blocking.

37 stitches in 10 cm/4” and 56 rounds in 10 cm/4” after blocking.

YARN

You will need 3 colours (C1, C2, C3) of fingering yarn (425 m/100 g)/(464 yards/4 oz) depending on the size as follows:
1 - C1: 20 g (0.7 oz), C2: 40 g (1.4 oz), C3: 1 g (0.03 oz)
2 - C1: 25 g (0.9 oz), C2: 45 g (1.6 oz), C3: 1.5 g (0.05 oz)
3 - C1: 30 g (1 oz), C2: 50 g (1.8. oz), C3: 2 g (0.08 oz)
4 - C1: 35 g (1.2 oz), C2: 55 g (1.9 oz), C3: 2.5 g (0.09 oz)

C1 - donut’s icing, C2 - donut’s dough, C3 - sprinkles.
The socks in the pictures are knitted using Woollala Sock Merino yarn.

NEEDLES

US Size 1 (2.25 mm) and US 1.5 (2.50 mm) - DPNs or Addi CrasyTrio or 80 or 100 cm / 30 or 40 “ long cable needles if you choose to knit with the magic loop method. I suggest choosing the 25 cm shortie needles for the 2.5 mm (US 2) for the colorwork parts.

NOTIONS

2 stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors.

Taką też strategię konsekwentnie stosuję w swoim życiu i mam nadzieję, że pozytywna energia tych pączkowych skarpetek udzieli się również Tobie!

O WZORZE

Skarpetki w całości przerabiane są na okrągło, od cholewki do palców, bez zszywania. Zaczniesz od plisy z pikotką, zbudowanej z powtarzalnych segmentów. Następnie płynnie przejdziesz do dziergania dalszej części skarpetki, którą przerabiać skarpetki wg załączonego schematu graficznego, a piętę i resztę skarpetki - wg opisu tekstowego. Pięta oparta jest o konstrukcję z klapką.

ROZMIARY

1 (2) 3 (4) są przeznaczone odpowiednio dla obwodu stopy 18.5 (20.5) 22 (23.5) cm

Zmierz obwód stopy w najszerszym miejscu przed palcami i dobierz rozmiar skarpetki najbliższy jednemu z powyższych obwodów. Jeśli jesteś pomiędzy rozmiarami, polecam wybrać mniejszy rozmiar, aby skarpetka się nie zsuwała. Długość skarpetki dostosowywana będzie w trakcie przerabiania.

Podane powyżej rozmiary odpowiadają kolejno liczbie oczek:

56 (64) 72 (80) oczek w obwodzie skarpetki.

PRÓBKA

38 oczek w 10 cm (9.5 oczek w 2.5 cm) 57 okrążeń w 10 cm (14 okrążeń w 2.5 cm) dżersejem na okrągło, mierzone na nierozciągniętej skarpetce przed praniem.

37 oczek w 10 cm i 56 okrążeń w 10 cm, mierzone po praniu.

WŁÓCZKA

Do wykonania pary skarpetek potrzebna będzie poniższa ilość włóczki o grubości fingering (425 m/100 g) w zależności od rozmiaru, w trzech kolorach (C1, C2, C3):
1 - C1: 20 g, C2: 40 g, C3: 1 g
2 - C1: 25 g, C2: 45 g, C3: 1.5 g
3 - C1: 30 g, C2: 50 g, C3: 2 g
4 - C1: 35 g, C2: 55 g, C3: 2.5 g

C1 - polewa donuta, C2 - ciasto donuta, C3 - posypka.
Skarpetki ze zdjęcia zrobione są z włóczki Woollala Sock Merino.

DRUTY

2.25 mm oraz 2.50 mm - druty skarpetkowe lub typu Addi CrasyTrio lub druty na żyłce 80 lub 100 cm w przypadku dziergania techniką magic loop.
