Cardinals appear when angels are near!

This beautiful cardinal pattern pops on the neutral background. My sister, Doris, loves cardinals, so this pattern is for her. I hope you enjoy the cardinals as much as she does.

This pattern is written as one size. The hat is around 21 inches in circumference, 9.5 inches long but there is stretch. The mittens are 7 inches in circumference and 10 inches long. Both length and width can be adjusted. I used Aran weight yarn. If you use another yarn or different size needles or knit tightly when doing stranded knitting, you will need to make adjustments. See the suggested gauge.

You will need most of a skein for the main colour. The cardinal only needs 30-40g of yarn. The rest of the colours can be done with some leftovers. Most of the hat and all of the mittens are knit in stranded knitting, using only two colours at once. There are a few rows in the hat that use more than two colours at once. Make sure that you secure any long floats in the back of your work.

This pattern works up quickly as you see the cardinal emerge in your work. Enjoy the knit for yourself or a friend or loved one.

This hat and mitten set has not been test knit. Send any suggestions or questions to carolasheartstrings@gmail.com or to my Ravelry username: Cbaker259
