“Dotty” the hat

By Woolly Hooligan Designs

Each year since I started knitting, I set a personal challenge to learn a new style of knitting. As it happens 2019 is my fair isle year.

This is my third design in this geometric, funky repetitive pattern inspired by Andrea Rangel. Please enjoy. I really enjoy the simplicity, yet “funkiness” of her designs.

I am also knitting my stash, and this yarn loveliness were sitting there, hidden, hoping and praying to be used. It’s a wonderful combo. My kidlets usually end up “stealing” my hats and cowls, I figured this super wash work horse yarn by Malabrigo Rios is perfectly suited.

YARN:
• 1 skein Malabrigo Rios in Bobby Blue (accent colour)
• 1 skein Malabrigo Rios in Glitter (used as main background colour)

NEEDLES: 16-inch circulars size 7 US and same size DPN’s for decreasing the crown

GAUGE: 21 st/ 26 rows in 4 inch/10 cm blocked swatch in fair isle pattern.

Finished circumference: 15, 19, 22, 26 inches

Smallest size outside parenthesis, subsequent sizes in parenthesis in consecutive order. If one number is provided it applies to all sizes.

Height: 11 inches

Shown on 21-inch head, in size 19 inches, (negative ease 2 inches). Corrugated rib is not super stretchy, take that into consideration when choosing your size.

Level of difficulty: easy fair isle
