A cosy DK/8 ply sock pattern. It’s worked from the top/cuff downwards. I prefer Double pointed needles, but the pattern could easily be knitted using the magic loop method. The rib at the ankle and upper foot helps keep the socks snug, and the stocking stitch bottom means a nice smooth standing surface. The pattern uses 100grams of DK/8 Ply wool. A jolly hand painted/dyed yarn works well.
These knit up in no time and are a great first step in sock knitting. The principals of knitting 4 ply socks are all there, but in thicker wool, so mistakes are easier to fix.
These make lovely warm gumboot (wellies, rubber boots) socks.
