Double knitted Headband
A big and warm headband for the winter. This pattern includes detailed instructions of how to knit and tips on how to achieve good result. There are 4 distinct colourwork charts, with more than 8 illustrated variations, ranging from beginner level to advanced.
The headband is worked with double knitting. It should be 10-12 cm (4-5”) tall and is knitted until it measures 50 cm (20”) in length. Then the two ends are sewn seamlessly together. Double knitting creates a thick, warm fabric that blocks wind, rain, and snow. It lies flat, feels firm, and has no floats.
This is a great pattern for using scrap yarn, making gifts, or taking along as a travel project. You will need about two skeins, around 70 g (2.5 oz), of yarn and a pair of straight 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. Because of the double-knit structure, you can usually use needles one or two sizes smaller than the yarn recommends.
