I’m absolutely besotted with all the hand-dyed DK weight sock yarns now available – beautiful colourways that knit up in a jiffy. What’s not to love? So all I needed was a go-to DK sock pattern that could be worked cuff down or toe up, depending on my mood. The Double Vanilla socks were born!

Both versions of these socks use the Short ‘n Sweet short row heel. The cuff-down version finish with a simple round toe, and the toe-up socks feature the Round-We-Go toe. You choose the direction you prefer!

You can knit these socks on magic loop or dpns, depending on your preference - the pattern is written to accommodate both. Instructions are given in 3 sizes using 2.75mm needles, but you can easily adapt your socks by adding or subtracting in multiples of 8 stitches, or using a slightly smaller or larger needle.
