I designed this for myself in November 2007 using A Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara Walker, p. 142. I wanted an interesting lacy pattern that would make the self-striping yarn ripple a bit to add interest. These socks remind me of blue agate. I used Kaffe Fassett’s “Landscape Storm” # 4251.

I just discovered, in writing out the pattern (in Oct. 2010), that it is very similar to the popular Monkey Socks by Cookie A. - except mine has some differences, like a crocheted edging on top, a different heel stitch, 1 less row in the pattern, etc. But if I had known about Cookie’s version, I would have just used her pattern instead of ‘reinventing the wheel’! I decided to go ahead and add my version, since there are a few differences, and I had the photos all taken. Enjoy.
