Notes:

I got my inspiration for this from Alpi Alpenrose’s hand knit pattern for her “Pfeilraupe”, or German Arrow Scarf. I just don’t have the time to do all that garter stitch by hand, so I converted her idea of the scarf to be a shawlette done on the Brother Bulky machine (9.0mm) in easy stockinette. The machine knitting skills needed to do this pattern are:

E-Wrap Cast On
Short rows
Decreasing
Latch tool bind off

I have to admit that I combined some skinny yarns together to get a worsted weight yarn for the Red Dragon and Blue Dragon, but the Caron Cakes is great.
A slippery, shiny yarn such as Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny Ombre did not work.

The “dragon tail” is pulled through the loops that are made by the technique of short rows. As you pull the tail through, you can adjust the gathers on the shawl.
