This pattern call for two colors of yarn, what type of colorwork is used for this pattern?
The exact answer I’d prefer to leave a mystery. Here are the types of colorwork it most definitely is not: fair isle, double knitting, brioche, stranded, mosaic, or illusion.

Can I use a variegated yarn for one of the colors?
This is not recomended. Variegated/multi colored yarns do not show off cables well.

What colors of yarn would you suggest pairing together for this pattern?
The most striking color combination would be a medium-dark color and a pale/light color or undyed natural white/cream/grey. If choosing two colors here are some ideas Dark Teal and pale blue, Dark purple and light pink, Dark blue and light green, Dark red and pale orange, Hot pink and lilac, etc. The stitch pattern will work best with a strong contrast in shade but a similar hue. So colors that if they were paint would create a pretty shade when mixed together are a good idea. Opoosite/complimentary colors purple/yellow, blue/orange, Red/green; would not work very well.

Clue 4. If you downloaded version 4.1 or 4.2 before 10:21 PM ET on February 9th then there are two bits of erratta. Bind off is suggested in C1. If following written rows refer to chart for color. The current Clue 4.2 file for download has these erratta fixed.
