The ECCRIA Vest is a breathable unisex top with tied open sides, a boat neckline, and of customizable length. Ideal for both warm and cold weather, as a stand-alone piece or as an added layer to your outfit, it will quickly become a wardrobe essential.

The unpatterned stockinette is the perfect opportunity for personalized colorwork, adding stripes, a word, or a picture in your preferred technique will make your piece truly unique. The vest is your canvas!

Construction
Its simple construction makes the pattern accessible to advanced beginners: two panels are knit in stockinette with a garter stitch edge, and then joined seamlessly with Kitchener stitch. The thin collar is worked in the round, and the ties are knit into the vest.
Techniques used for the construction of this vest are: Kitchener Stitch, picking up and knitting stitches, and wrap and turn short rows.

Sizes
This pattern gives instructions on how to make the pattern in sizes 3XS (2XS, XS, S, M, L) XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL.
Finished bust measurements of the vest: 30 (34, 36, 38, 40, 44) 48, 52, 56, 62, 68 inches / 76 (86, 91, 96, 101, 112) 122, 132, 147, 157, 172 cm.
The ECCRIA Vest is designed to be worn with a positive ease of 4” / 10 cm.

Gauge
22 sts and 33 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette stitch with US 4 / 3.5 mm needles.

Yarn
About 375 (424, 450, 474, 500, 548) 600, 648, 700, 773, 810 yards / 343 (387, 411, 433, 457, 501) 548, 592, 640, 706, 740 meters of fine weight yarn.
I used Premier Yarns Minikins in color Brunette, which is 50% cotton and 50% acrylic, affordable, and widely available, but any fine weight yarn which gives you the right gauge will work. I encourage you to work with your preferred material, but take into consideration its breathability if you plan on wearing the vest in hot weather.

The yellow vest was knit using Drops Loves You #7, the grey vest was knit using Heritage Sock color 5742 and Noro Yukata color Nagoya for the stripes, and the red one was knit using Pingouin Reveillon in color Banquete.

Needles & Notions
US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles (32” / 80 cm cable) or DPNs, for the ribbing at the bottom of the body and for the collar, and US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles (32” / 80 cm cable) or DPNs, used for the body, the straps, and the first row of the collar. Other materials used are scrap yarn, four stitch markers, and measuring tape.
