The Edie Pet Sweater is worked from the top down with raglan increases. The Edie has a slightly cropped, feminine fit with a mock turtleneck, wide bell sleeves and fringe loops for that perfect 60’s feel.

The pattern covers a general guide for the sleeves and how to increase for each size, however you will need to do a bit of calculating to determine your own sleeve length. Because I cannot predict each doggo’s unique height, yardage given is a general guide. If your dog is taller than average you may need more material.

DIFFICULTY
Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, work in the round, work raglan increases, increase, decrease, work loop stitch, and bind off. Because of the calculation needed to make the sleeves, this is not a beginner friendly pattern. The techniques used are otherwise basic and straightforward.

SIZES
XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 1XL

The Edie Pet Sweater is designed to be a slightly cropped fit with wide bell sleeves, however you can adjust the sizing to add ease as needed. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 1XL are designed to have a fitted neck and a positive ease of about 2-4” / 5-10 cm in the chest and fit a neck circumference of 8 (9) 12 (14) 17 (19) 23 inches / 20 (23) 30.5 (35.5) 43 (48) 58.5 cm and a chest circumference of 11 (14.5) 17 (20) 25 (30) 34 inches / 28 (37) 43 (51) 63.5 (76) 86 cm. The measurements for the finished sweater listed on the first page are only achieved if the sweater is knitted in the correct gauge. Before beginning, measure your pet with a measuring tape around her neck, along her back, and the widest part of her body to determine which size would fit best. I recommend trying the sweater on your pet as you work. You may adjust the length as needed.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Neck circumference - 8 (9) 12 (14) 17 (19) 23 inches / 20 (23) 30.5 (35.5) 43 (48) 58.5 cm

GAUGE
13 sts x 18 rows in stockinette stitch on US 10 (6 mm)
needles with 1 strand of bulky weight yarn = 4 x 4
inches (10 x 10 cm)

NEEDLES

MATERIALS
210 (290) 370 (510) 770 (960) 1060 yds Bulky yarn such
as Eco-Cozy by Loops & Threads (145 yds/133 m = 5.29 oz/150g) or We Are Knitters The Petite Wool (153 yds/140 m = 3.5 oz/100g)

Please Note: The length of the sleeves you decide to knit may affect the yardage needed. As each dog is unique, the yardage given is a general estimate based on the average height for each size.

You could use any bulky yarn as long as you match the gauge.

(Please keep in mind that any additional knitting will
increase the yardage needed)

ALSO INCLUDED
Also included with your download is the Fuzzywuz Knitwear - Size Modification Guide. This guide has been designed to work in tandem with all Fuzzywuz Knitwear patterns to help users modify sizing for any pets that do not fit within the standard FW size chart.

For example, if your pet is barrel chested and wider through the chest than usual, or much skinnier than most, this guide aims to help you understand how to adjust the sizing of each pattern to get a perfect fit!

(Please keep in mind that any of these modifications may increase the amount of yardage needed so make sure to account for this when purchasing yarn. Please also note that this guide is not a pattern and cannot be used separately to make a pet sweater, it is simply a guide to assist with size modifications to any Fuzzywuz Knitwear patterns.)

The Size Modification Guide is made for an Intermediate / Advanced skillset. In addition to needing to know basic knitting techniques, you will need to understand gauge and be able to do a fair amount of math on your own to adjust your sizing. While this guide will describe the steps needed to customize your pet’s measurements, you will need to do the actual calculations on your own, as each pet is unique.

PLEASE NOTE
This pattern and accompanying Size Modification Guide is for personal, non-commercial use only. The pattern may not be copied, resold or redistributed in any way. You also may not sell any items produced using this pattern. The guide may not be used to develop a pattern separately.
