Elysia Jacket
Pattern coming soon!
INTRODUCTION
Inspired by the Elysian fields of greek mythology, a blissful resting place full of natural floral beauty, this pattern features soothing and rhythmic, nature inspired stitch patterns that flow from one section to the next, with garter palate cleansers and glamorous floral crystal motifs giving a touch of elegance.
The pattern is a slouchy style jacket which is knit sideways with vertical sections running from back to front. You will then cast off half the number of stitches in the middle to accommodate the neck and jacket opening, and then cast on stitches again once the middle back and neck sections have been knitted.
The number of vertical sections knitted will determine the size of your jacket. This pattern is written for four sizes, but this is easily adjustable by adding or subtracting the number of vertical sections you knit. For example, if you want a tighter fit, more like a slouchy waistcoat, you may want to omit a section from your size. If you want a larger, looser fit, with more of a drop down from the shoulder, just add additional garter stitch sections.
Consisting of up to 25 sections, the first 1- 8d are knitted, and then repeated in reverse for sections 12a -19. The middle sections 9 to 11 feature texture and an interesting climbing rose crystal intarsia motif.
This is very much your individual project. You can use colours that blend as a gradient or use contrasting colours to really make the jacket sing! Use one colour throughout and make the crystal motifs and stitch textures a feature.
You can even use multiple scraps for any one section, making this pattern a real stash buster.
