Emeraude is a top down long-line cardigan with lace stripes and an asymmetrical handkerchief hemline. The sweater is knit flat from the top down using raglan increases. Unlike a regular raglan sweater, the increases do not end at the sleeve separation but continue down the body of the cardigan to create the handkerchief hemline.

The yoke portion of the sweater is knit in stockinette stitch and the lace stripes begin after the sleeve separation. After knitting the lace stripe section, the hem of the sweater is finished by working a woven hem.

The front collar band is then made starting at the WS of the left front and picking up and purling stitches along the side of the left front, around the neck portion and then down the right front side. It is then knit in 1 x 1 rib for 2 inches. The front collar band is finished with a tubular cast on. Detailed instructions are given for how to complete the tubular cast on.

The sleeves are knit in the round until the cuff. The cuff is a split cuff knit flat in 1 x 1 ribbing and finished with a tubular bind off. Button loops are then crocheted along the overlapping cuff section.
