Emerger is a cowl that employs about three different shawl-and-cowl constructions over the course of the project. Overall, during the first half, things change fast and there is some challenge to the work—and the second half makes good movie/novel night knitting once you’ve got the rhythm down.

There are two sizes for this cowl—the large is rewarding in that it will fit, capelike, over XS-M shoulders (which also shows off the design really nicely), but it’s also a lot of simple knitting in relatively light yarn. The big version is recommended, if you can stand the lengthy section of garter stitch, because it’s big.

The small version is more of a simple neckwarmer cowl, and has less style flexibility, but if that’s all you need, it provides slightly quicker gratification and can be knit in just 440 yards of fancy yarn.

Materials:
440-510 yards of Malabrigo Sock or a similar substitute yarn

Tapestry needle
