This kneesocks pattern, based on traditional Bavarian stockings, is written for an Austrian girl born in Canada, raised in Southeast Asia, now living in Central America. She can carry a small piece of her heritage with her wherever she goes.

This pattern is written for three sizes but can easily be adapted up or down in repeats of 8 stitches.

Many thanks to Madelinetosh for supporting me in developing this pattern, which features their beautiful hand-dyed yarn, and my favourite element of traditional Bavarian socks:
the Wadenkeil!

You will need 2 skeins of the main colour and approx 75g of a contrasting colour. I chose a more traditional palette of green using Madlinetosh Twist Light in Matcha (MC) and The Upside Down (CC) but a solid version using a light neutral such as Lamplight would look fantastic as well.
