Enceladus Hat
Enceladus is a warm and cozy hat in half brioche stitch. This creates a thick, textured fabric. The folded brim gives a neat finish and ensures the hat will keep you cozy even in the depth of winter.
Enceladus works best in a tweedy yarn with flecks of colour. The grey sample is worked in Rowan Cashmere Tweed in colour Granite. Top with a pompom for an extra splash of colour.
Enceladus is named after one of Saturn’s moons.

Sizing
Enceladus can be made in newborn (35cm/13.5” head circumference) all the way up to adult large (60cm/23.5”).
Yarn
Enceladus is designed for DK-worsted weight yarns. It will look best in a natural yarn with flecks of colour, such as a wool tweed or heathered yarn. The smallest size uses about 90 metres (98 yards), and the largest size uses 220 metres (240 yards).
Needles
You will need a size 3.5mm/US4 circular needle (you may also want a set of DPNs in the same size for the very top of the hat).
Gauge
Gauge is 24 stitches by 40 rows in 10 x 10 cm (or 4” x 4”). This is in the main pattern repeat, unstretched.
Extras
You will also need a BOR marker + 3 stitch markers, some waste yarn, a tapestry needle and a pom pom (optional).
Sample hat
The prototype pictured is made in the adult small size, and uses Rowan Cashmere Tweed in Granite.
