Erickson Toque
Inspiration for this hat came from the renowned Canadian Architect Arthur Erickson (1924-2009). I visited several of his significant works located in Vancouver, BC after graduating with an architecture degree in the mid 80’s. The design at Simon Fraser University of repetitive vertical elements in unfinished concrete, and the strong contrast of light and shadow that resulted is an image that has stayed with me over the years, and what I tried to capture in this project. This design is dedicated to Joanne Hogarth who was a dear friend, Canadian, architect and knitter.
This pattern shows 3 options; a tone on tone, a high contrast, and a version with neutral tones. It also has instructions for a folded brim or a 1x1 ribbed brim (for when you have more limited time or yarn).
