Play It Again 2024 is an opportunity for knitters to knit my patterns together in Knitting in the Loft starting March 1st. This pattern, along with my others, is being offered at 20% off until March 15, 2024, no coupon code needed. Come join us in the Loft!

This scarf is our 4th Annual Year Long MKAL in Knitting in the Loft and will be knit from the bottom-up as a rectangle, incorporating various Estonian motifs and stitch patterns. There will be 12 clues, each one released on or around the beginning of each month, starting January 1st, 2020. Beads are entirely optional (250 or more), but such a nice addition…and there are LOTS of places to add them or use them in place of nupps (gasp!) if they are not your favorite stitch. We will have two different edges to choose from, a Knitted on Lace Edge or a Five Stitch Garter Edge. Both of these will be knit as we go.

There are both written and charted instructions. The written instructions will be placed near the beginning of the pattern. The charts are placed near each other and include stitch counts for knit/purl stitches between specially worked stitches where there are four or more stitches and colored symbols. Stitch Definitions have been written to be as thorough as possible. Some of the more complicated stitches have links to YouTube tutorials.

Between 800 - 1,000 or more yards of lace or fingering weight yarn will be required. For those who LOVE to knit nupps, you may want to have some extra yardage on hand. Or for those adventurous types who would like to make this double or triple wide, this yardage has not been estimated, but one of the testers has suggested that it would be a beautiful variation. Check out the project pages to see some gorgeous variations of this pattern.

There will be plenty of pattern support and fun found in Knitting in the Loft. We will be most happy to answer questions and encourage you on your knitting journey. There is a posting in the header of the Estonian Sampler Thread with errata.

Many, many thanks go out to my wonderful testers. Kath061616, MinnesotaNancy, ladywulf, knit3hearts, and ekatja. You are the best! Thank you so much for your extra pairs of fresh eyes, the written pattern (ladywulf), and your wonderful observations. This pattern is better for it. Thank you.

Once you purchase this pattern it is yours. It is not refundable. Shop thoughtfully.
