The Evangeline Blouse is a drapey, lace detailed blouse with positive ease and picot hems. The blouse is worked top down, beginning with the back, then shoulders, front and lace edges. It is seamless and the picot edges are all bind-offs, so no extra sewing!

This blouse is intended for any knitter, but has special accessibility features for pregnant, nursing, post-partum, and menopause stages to accommodate hormone, weight, temperature, sensitivity, and range of motion fluctuation.

The lace motif is a very simple repeat, worked with basic yarn overs and decreases. It is a great pattern for a beginner to lace work, with both written and charted instructions. The picot edges bindoffs are carefully designed to look like falling droplets of water off of flower petals for the side lace hems, but to cinch the neckline with only a slight modification to the repeat.

I have graded this pattern as a modified drop shoulder which means that the amount of ease at the crossback is consistent between all sizes, necessitating more rapid increases for the body for upper sizes. This means that while the finished garments will look different when laying flat, they will look the same when worn across sizes.

Model has a 35.5” bust and is wearing a size 3.

The pattern is graded for bust circumferences of 28-67 inches, or 71-170cm. Please see the size chart for all details.

The recommended positive ease is 28.5”-31.5”, 72.5-80 cm or 22.5”-25.5”, 57.5-64.75 cm excluding decorative hems. The second recommendation applies if choosing to work the optional underarm modesty panels which are knit from the inner edge of the lace work.
