I fell in love with Pearly Everlasting flowers on our first family trip to Nova Scotia many years ago. I love the tiny, creamy flowers and the straw-like feel. The colors and understated frilliness of this shawl remind me of them.

Knit from the top down in stockinette with lifted increases forming a cape-like shape. The scallops are shaped with short rows and a bit of simple lace. The under layer is picked up from behind and knit in stockinette and lace.

There are a couple of techniques used that could be difficult for beginners - the lifted increases, the one long row that includes multiple short rows, and picking up stitches from the purl bumps on the wrong side. Video links and how-to photos are included.

Skills required:
Lifted increases
• Short rows
• Simple lace
• Picking up stitches

Yardage details:
• MC - 420
• CC - 225
