Extra chunky sweater with a casual oversized fit and a roll neck - Difficulty: Beginner/Intermediate.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Extra Chunky Sweater is the ultimate cozy sweater! Its vibrant colors and mix of yarns make it stand out, while the oversized fit and soft texture make it perfect for snuggling up. I love wearing mine—on days when I feel like making a statement or when I’d rather stay under the covers.

The sweater is worked top-down on 15 mm | US 19 needles. The collar is knitted on 12 mm | US 17, and the ribbing at the cuffs and hem is done on 10 mm | US 15. The collar and sleeves are worked by picking up stitches along the neckline and armholes.

FIT
The sweater is designed with an oversize fit and a slightly cropped fit in mind, but can easily be made longer if you prefer. My bust circumference is 96 | 38 inches, and my sweater is knitted in size M.

RECOMMENDED CIRCULAR NEEDLES
10 mm | US 15, 40 & 80 cm | 16 & 32 inches, 12 mm | US 17, 60 cm | 24 inches, and 15 mm | US 19, 40 & 80 cm | 32 & 16 inches

GAUGE
7 stitches on needle size 15 mm | US 19 (or the needle size you need hit the gauge) = 10 cm | 4 inches

YARN CONSUMPTION
900-1200 g leftover yarn – see more details under ‘Choosing yarn’

SIZES
XS (S) M (L) XL

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Chest circumference 110 (122) 134 (140) 152 cm | 43 (48) 53 (55) 60 inches
Length 52 (54) 56 (58) 60 cm | 20 (21) 22 (23) 24 inches

CHOOSING YARN
I recommend using bulky yarn suitable for 6 mm | US 10 needles. To get the best result, I recommend working with 3 strands at a time, but no more than 4 strands.

I have found that blow yarn and fat mohair (for instance Drops Air and Drops Melody) work the best. Using lighter yarns prevents your sweater from becoming too heavy. Extra bulky yarn such as Drops Snow and Mayflower Molly (or similar) works best for this project.
