Extra Lite Bright is the fingering weight remix of Lite Bright, a design made for color, creativity, and yarn you already have. With the same relaxed silhouette and easygoing construction, this version brings all the fun of the original to your favorite sock yarns in a lighter fabric.
This is a project made for play. Fade five colors or ten, go high contrast or subtle, stash dive or work from a kit. The colorwork uses simple repeats and no floats, and the fade is mapped out for you so you can focus on choosing colors and enjoying the knitting.
Knit in fingering weight yarn, Extra Lite Bright can be worn as a breathable tee or a lightweight sweater. Choose short or long sleeves and make the palette entirely your own.
Design Details
The sweater begins with a shaped scoop neckline and a compound raglan yoke that keeps proportions balanced across sizes. The fade flows naturally through the yoke and body so the color shifts feel smooth and cohesive.
You can match the sleeves to the body or vary them for a different look. Our fade calculator helps you space your colors evenly no matter how many shades you choose.
Pattern Highlights
- Seamless, top down raglan construction
- Planned fade makes color changes easy to manage
- No float colorwork
- Short or long sleeve options
Construction Overview
Extra Lite Bright is worked seamlessly from the top down, beginning with a shaped scoop neckline. The yoke is worked flat in one color through the first sections, then joined in the round for the remainder of the yoke, body, and sleeves.
After the yoke is complete, the body and sleeves are separated and worked in the round. Both short and long sleeve options are included. A ribbed collar allows you to adjust neckline depth and 1x1 ribbing finishes the garment.
Yarn Notes
We knit our sample in Spun Right Round Classic Sock, a 100% superwash merino yarn that shows off color beautifully and keeps the fabric soft and wearable.
Fiber: 100% Superwash Merino
Yardage: 438 yards / 100g skein
Sock yarns with clear color and good stitch definition work especially well here. Check out our testers’ projects for lots of palette inspiration.
