Do you love the look and texture of brioche but hate the thought of knitting each row twice? Meet fisherman’s rib! The fisherman’s rib stitch gives the squishy texture and warmth of the brioche stitch but without the hassle.

There are other fisherman’s rib patterns out there but this one has something special - this one is reversible!

Worked with 2 colours of 4ply/fingering yarn of merino wool and some rather unconventional decreases this hat can be worn either way to suit your mood or outfit.

The large size uses approx 50g of the main colour and 30g of the contrast colour. I think my head is normal sized (22.5”) and both hats fit me very nicely, the small/medium size fits my 13 year old nephew too so this pattern is ideal for teens and adults alike.

This hat will only need to be very lightly blocked to make sure your stitches are even so the gauge measurements are for an unwashed and unstretched hat:
23st and 40 rounds over 4” for the ribbed brim
32st and 40 rounds over 4” for the body of the hat
