This pattern repeats throughout the hat making the fade. Each stripe is separated by a garter ridge of the main color. One stitch of the main color is slipped in front of the color stripe every fourth stitch to make the honeycomb appearance. This is all written out in detail. It is a fun pattern and pairs well with the cowl by the same name, and such a joy to wear.

The matching Faded Honeycomb Cowl is here.
