“Fair is foul, and foul is fair.
Hover through the fog and filthy air.”
- Macbeth, Act 1, Scene 1, Line 10

The Foul version of the cowl is meant to express the witches in their darker interpretation. The subtle differences between the colors of the yarn make me think of steam and smoke—perhaps the steam and smoke of a bubbling cauldron atop a blazing fire. What weird ingredients are in the cauldron? I leave that up to you.

**NOTE:** You WON’T need the full 1092 yards (or even the 546), but if you are knitting it with 1 MC and 3 CC’s, and you purchase the specified yarn (versus knitting from stash), at 273 yards per skein, that’s the yardage you’d need to purchase. I hope that’s clear. - Erica
