This knitting pattern is of a Fair Isle Hat Style 1. There is also a Cowl in the same design. The pattern is in the design of various little patterns. It is knitted with a variegated yarn against a solid background colour. It is knitted with a 4-ply on a circular needle, and then you will need to move onto Double Pointed Needles as the stitches decrease. The coloured rib starts the pattern, which then takes you to the main body of the pattern and then finishes with decreasing to shape the crown. (This is done by k2tog) There are 2 clear, colourful charts to show the Fair Isle pattern.

Size - Adult with an approx circumference - 52 cm (20.5”) to 54 cm (21”). The tension does have some give.

Tension - Stocking Stitch: 28 sts x 36 rows – 10cm x 10cm/ 4”x 4”

Needles - The hat is knitted in the round with a 60cm 3.25mm circular needle and then 5 x 3.25 mm DPNs.

Suggested yarns - Scheepjes Downtown/Scheepjes Metropolis (1 ball of each) or Drops Fabel Solid and Variegated (1 ball of each).
