This pattern is for the Faith design, that features filet crochet, and a cross at the bottom. This is a great door decoration to display your faith in God, and would be a beautiful addition to a home prayer corner, or even as a small table runner.

This pattern is worked from the bottom up, and you can use any sport weight yarn of your preference. I’ve listed 3 brands that I like and have used for these, but any sport should work, although I would not recommend anything that is furry, as this will make the word harder to read.

The pattern has both a chart, and written directions. The written directions are written in a short hand where X means a filled in square and O means an empty or mesh square. If you are new to filet crochet, please watch this video, and it will teach you how to read a chart, plus the concept behind a 3 dc square filet crochet pattern. This link is also included with the pattern in the written directions.

Also, there is a link to a youtube video on how to do the chainless foundation, which is my prefered way to start these banners, as it gives it a nicer bottom edge. This is completely up to you though, but I encourage you to try it. I use it for many projects, as it helps me not have to count so many starting chains.

You will also need a dowel rod. I get mine at any craft store, and a 12” dowel will be just fine for this project, giving you about 2” on each side. It’s good to have the dowel rod hanging off just a litttle bit, so that you do not have to worry about it sliding off if you have to move the banner. If you do not have a craft store near you, you can go to Home Depot and they will cut dowel rods for you, the right length.
