Not long after I started knitting, my Mom took me to one of her guild meetings. That night there was a talk on slip stitches.
I was fascinated that you could do colourwork without working two yarns at the same time. My skills weren’t up to stranded colourwork, but this I could definitely manage.
While my skills have advanced since then, it’s still nice to fall back on simplicity to create something intricate.
By pairing two contrasting yarns, you can create a sock that looks like stranded colourwork, but its only ever knit with one colour at a time. The result is a colourful, textured sock with a million options for colours. Pair a busy yarn with a calm one and watch the magic happen.
