Fancy Top Doll Socks
Description:
Do you have doll lovers in your life? These fancy socks are perfect to knit as gifts (or keep for yourself!) and are great for using up fingering weight yarn scraps. The socks are knit from the cuff down with a heel flap and gusset construction for the heel. The directions are written for double pointed needles, but you can adapt it for magic loop.
* This pattern contains two patterns – the Ruffle Cuff and the Picot Edge socks.
Foot Measurements
These socks are intended to fit 18” dolls.
- Length – 2.5 in./6 cm.
- Circumference: 3.5 in./9 cm.
- These socks fit the doll with slight negative ease. They fit like regular socks.
Materials
Lace or Fingering Weight Yarn
- Ruffle Cuff: approximately 6-12 grams (lace weight – 6 gr., fingering weight - 11-12 gr.), 20-60 yards / 18-55 meters If planning a 2 color sock, you will need 3-6 grams for MC and 3-6 grams for CC.
- Picot Edge: approximately 6-7 grams, 20-35 yards / 18-32 meters of MC, a tiny bit of CC
- If these socks are being worn with doll shoes, it is better to use lighter weight fingering or lace weight yarn, otherwise the shoes may not go over the socks.
- Double Pointed Needles (or needle of choice) – US 1 (2.5 mm) or sized needed to obtain gauge
- For the Picot Edge socks you will need 2 sets of dpns Small crochet hook for provisional cast on (exact size doesn’t matter; I used one similar to my needle gauge but slightly larger)
- Darning Needle (for weaving in ends)
- Stitch marker (optional)
Gauge
- 8-8.5 stitches x 11 rounds = 1 inch
- I did not block the finished socks, so this is my pre-blocked gauge.
