Description
This beanie style hat is knit from brim to crown. Knit with two strands of fingering weight held double, it is a great way to use up left over sock yarn or can be knit in DK weight. Get creative with stripes or use up your scraps of mohair!

Head Circumference
Our dolls range in size from 10.5 – 12 in. / 26.5 – 30.5 cm. The hats fix all of them.

Materials

  • Fingering Weight Yarn – approximately 10 grams, 40 yards / 36.6 meters each for colors A and B (total – 20 grams of fingering weight yarn), or the same yardage of DK weight yarn
  • Double Pointed Needles (or needle of choice for knitting small circumference in the round) – US 4 (3.5 mm) or sized needed to obtain gauge
  • Darning Needle (for weaving in ends)
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Gauge
17-17.5 stitches x 16-17 rounds = 2 inches in 2x2 rib, unstretched

  • I made a bunch of these hats for my daughters’ friends. I used the same needles but my gauge varied based on my yarn slightly. All versions of the hat fit the our baby dolls and American Girl dolls. Due to the stretchy nature of rib, an exact gauge is not crucial except it may take more or less yarn than planned.
