The lovely flower leis of Hawai’i were the inspiration for this scarf-- not all girls who love flowers are blessed to spend their winters in warm places. Here is a wrap of warm and beautiful flowers for the coldest and dreariest winter days.

The beautiful flower motifs, designed by Joyce Lewis (large flowers) and myself (small flowers), use Crocodile Stitch, and a photo tutorial will help those new to the technique. Each large flower is worked in place on the simple background scarf. The small flowers are added, to fill in the gaps between the larger ones.

A note on color choices: You’ll need a little less than 2 balls of the MC for the background scarf and flower centers. The 8 other colors work best if you choose a light and dark version of each of 4 colors: light and dark blue, light pink and dark rose, for example. Only about 50 yds is needed of each of the contrast colors.

This pattern, recommended for Intermediate level crocheters, uses US terms. It has been rigorously tech edited and tested by Joyce Lewis.
