Thank you for your interest in this pattern. Father Sky is a beanie which is knit in two parts: first a length of band knit flat to create the horizontal cables and ribbing, and then after the remaining body and crown shaping are knit in the round. The knit-up is very simple with quick row repeats which are easy to memorize as you work and requires little time to complete.

Includes both charted and written out instructions in English for those who may prefer one over the other. Two size options are provided for better fitting (Small requires roughly 145 yards, whereas the large size requires roughly 158 yards).

While I used alpaca as my choice of yarn, any worsted weight yarn you can obtain gauge with should suffice, but preferably a fiber which has memory and can be blocked as stitch and cable definition will look better in your final product.

One general consensus which threads throughout the Native American spiritual beliefs is the belief of the Mother Earth spirituality. The Native Americans felt that the earth was our mother, the sky our father, and all things were interconnected. No shamanist ritual starts without the invocation of Father Heaven, Mother Earth, and the ancestors.

Father Sky, or Sky Father, is a repeating spiritual theme in many world wide religions, both past and present.
