This asymmetric triangle shawl has the Fibonacci sequence worked in contrast colour on the edge: hence Fibonedgi (with apologies to the Italian mathematician).
It is a large, cosy shawl that you can really snuggle into. It’s knit flat, all in garter with some simple triangle shaping, and easy intarsia colour work. It’s simple enough for an adventurous beginner knitter or well suited as an easy project for an experienced knitter.
It can be worn in lots of different ways: point at the front, or at your back; point over one shoulder and you can also wrap it double for when the weather is extra cold.

The pattern includes a table to keep track of rows, stitch count and the colourwork border stripes. The stripes increase in width to a mid-point, then start to decrease.

Dimensions after blocking: Long straight side 59” (150cm); diagonal 63” (160 cm).

Many thanks to my wonderful testers!

GAUGE: 20 stitches and 40 rows (20 garter ridges) in 4” (10 cm) before blocking. Differences in gauge will affect both the size of your finished item and the amount of yarn needed to complete it.

SUPPLIES: 2 colours of dk weight yarn that knits to gauge. Allow 720 yards (660 m) main colour (MC) and 55 yards (50 m) contrast colour (CC). This includes a 10% safety margin on my usage. Sample was knit with Raxor Super Springy Merino (MC) and Rowan Felted Tweed (CC). Choose yarns with good contrast between them so that the border stands out.

US 7 (4.5mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge) long circular needle. You will be knitting back and forth in rows, but a circular needle works best for the long rows later on.
