I LOVE crocheting squares. They are so versatile! You can use them to make simple coasters, entire blankets, pillowcases, lacy tops, bags, festive bunting.. anything! Until now though I’ve only been making crochet squares which are worked in the round. Easy to join together since they have a neat edging on each side. This time I’ve designed a square worked in rows, which is much easier for me to work a lace pattern in. I call these my ‘Filet Flower Squares’ – and I’m sharing the pattern with you all for free!

I’ve used several colours of the Scheepjes Catona 25 gram balls, since the balls are so small you can use more colours in each project!

The pattern can be altered easily by adding rows or stitches on either side. You can use it to make a bag, rug, blanket, coasters, pillowcases…. what will you make?
