Fire & Ice: Fire and Ice pants are very versatile! Instructions are given for a 2-colour model but you can play around.
You will have many options to choose from:
• Fold-over rib edge or short rib edge or short rib edge with I-cord
• Short-row back shaping (allow more space for cloth diapers) or no short-row shaping
• Straight or tapered leg
• Long or short legs

Sizing
NB (3-6 mo, 6-9 mo, 12 mo, 18-24 mo, 3-4 yo)
Blocked Hip Measurements:
15.5 (17, 18, 19.5, 21, 23) inches
Waist, Hip, Rise, inseam measurements all available in pattern.
Your size’s choice should be based on finished waist and hip measurements as you can shorten/lengthen rise and inseam if needed. Age label is just there to give a reference.
Measure your child’s hip/waist while wearing his usual diaper (or any clothes intended to be worn under the pants) and pick a finished garment size closest to these measurements.
As ribbing is extensive, you can pick a waist/hip measurement 1’’ smaller than your child’s measurements.

Materials
• MC: 125 (180, 250, 275, 300, 325) yards
• CC: 125 (150, 175, 200, 250, 300) yards of worsted or Aran yarn (CC is the ribbing colour)
• 16’’ circular needle and double pointed needles (DPNs) US #6 & 7 (4 & 4.5 mm) or any size required to obtain gauge
• Other: 5 stitch markers, 2 stitch holders/scrap yarn
