The holes and triangles created by the Firebolt pattern can be interpreted as many different things, for me it’s anything from the bristles of magical broomsticks to an astronomic phenomenon. What do you see in these little shapes?

Firebolt is a crescent shaped shawl with a geometric lace pattern and a slightly ruffled edge. The shawl can be made any size you want to match your preferences.

Green-orange shawl used 1 skein Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Maple Leaf 100% merino, 420 yd/384 m per 100g on 4 mm (US 6) needles. Blocked size is 110 x 30 cm (43 x 12 inches). Gauge 18 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.

Blue shawl used 1 skein Malabrigo Sock in Indiecita 100% Merino, 440 yd/402 m per 100g on 4 mm (US 6) needles. Blocked size is 126 x 33 cm (50 x 13 inches). Gauge 16 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.

March 12th 2013: I have added a new pattern version that also includes written instructions.
