First Frost was inspired by the beautiful, gentle first frosting of the year. This design is a rectangular, crescent shaped shawl. To begin the full amount of stitches for the wingspan are cast on and a small garter crescent shape is worked using German short row shaping. Then, the lace pattern is worked over all the stitches creating the rectangular shape. The first and last are worked as an i-cord edging for a smooth edge, and a picot bind off is worked for a final feminine touch. Knit up in Brooklyn Tweed Peerie a soft fingering weight yarn in the beautiful Sea Glass color. First Frost is an enjoyable shawl to knit and a dainty, beautiful piece to wear.
