This is my take on the classic Breton fisherman’s shirt. It is made with cotton yarn knitted up at a fairly tight gauge to prevent the garment from sagging out of shape. The sweater is worked in the round to the underarm, then sleeve stitches are added, and the front and back are worked separately back and forth. A little seaming is needed at the cuffs and neckline, otherwise the construction is seamless. The front and back are identical, and the waist and bust shaping is straightforward, making this an ideal project for TV knitting, or for beginners.

Finished bust circumference:
80 (85 - 94 - 99) 105 cm/31.5 (33.5 - 37 - 39) 41.5’’.
Recommended ease: 0-5 cm/0-2’’ negative
ease.

Yarn requirements:
Sport weight cotton yarn.
