The Fizzy Pop Cowl
The Fizzy Pop Cowl is a companion pattern to the Fizzy Pop shawl. The Fizzy Pop Shawl uses the same construction as my Maurice shawl pattern to create a large shallow crescent shawl. Maurice was named after my maternal grandfather. I wanted to name this pattern after my Dad’s Dad, Arthur, who we called Pop. We used to visit him every Friday and that was the only time we were allowed to have soda, or fizzy pop as we called it in 1970’s England. This name just seemed to match the pattern!

The cowl is asymmetric and features the “Pop” detail, found on the shawl, along one edge and a ribbed detail along the other. It is knit flat in garter stitch and then seamed at the back of the neck. The pattern uses light fingering weight yarn with mohair held double but could be knit with different weight yarn to create a larger item or with the repeats/stitches adjusted as desired. Although, this would alter the amount of yarn required.
