Flaming cowl
The poncho shown in some photos is the Binault poncho.

The cowl is knitted in the round from the bottom up with twisted ribbed borders on both top and bottom. With the stranded knitting method, create a flame like pattern done in two contrasting colors. The sample was knitted with one of our favorite yarns, Bambon and so the stitch definition is just wonderful here.

Keep in mind that stranded knitting may condense your project a bit, so do not knit tightly. Choose colors that create a striking contrast for best results.

The unblocked circumference of the cowl measures 22” and the height is 10”.

Yarn used
Bambon, a DK weight in a blend of 40% bamboo and 60% cotton. 154 yards a skein. C1 - 1 skein shown-Navy
C2 - 1 skein shown- Cinnamon

Notions needed
US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle 20” (51 cm) in length.
1 Stitch marker to mark beginning of round. Darning needle or crochet hook for finishing.

Gauge: 19 sts and 21 rows in 4” of stockinette stitch.

Techniques applied
Knitting and purling in the round, knitting through back loop, color changes, stranded knitting, binding off, weaving in ends and optional blocking.
