Inspired by softness and the checkered pattern of its fabric, Flannel is named after its woven twin. This timeless and reversible blanket is constructed with garter stitch, playing with slipping the stitches in front and back, to achieve the look of a woven checkered fabric.

Materials: 3 (5) skeins Core Worsted (MC), 3 (5) skeins Echoes Worsted (CC), shown in 4517 + 4154

Sizes: 1 (2) with 34.5 (38.5)’’/88 (98) cm width, 33 (56.75)’’/83.5 (144.5) cm length

Needles: US 7/4.50 mm; or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Tapestry nedle, stitch markers

Gauge: 19 sts x 36 rows in slip stitch checkered motif = 4’’/10 cm square, steam blocked

Skill Level: Easy

Techniques: Garter stitch, mosaic knitting, I-cord edging

Construction Notes:
Flannel blanket is worked flat with 2 colors which alternate every 2 rows. Main design features are a garter stitch base and slip stitches that construct vertical lines. Slipping the stitches with yarn in front and in back makes the design reversible.

The blanket consists of 2 alternating sections, each with a dominant color. Edges are worked with an I-cord edge to have a polished look.
