The Flare Cowl was originally designed to work with Village Yarn Company’s exclusive LYS Day 2024 color from Sheepytime Knits, Purple Flare. However, any fingering weight yarn that is designed to be used with an assigned pooling technique will work. If you’re not sure whether your yarn will work with this pattern, you want a yarn that is mostly one color, but has a contrast color section that is approximately 12” long.
In addition to Purple Flare, Sheepytime Knits has several other colors that would work, and other yarns that would work well with this pattern are Wonderland Yarns Mary Ann in their Colorburst collection, or the Madelinetosh x Barker Wool collection on any Madelinetosh fingering weight yarn.
No previous experience with assigned pooling is necessary for knitting this pattern.
