Fledgling combines wide and narrow stripes and comes in two sizes: a classic scarf and a wider wrap. Optional flannel lining can be added at the end. An easy project to build up your skills.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Corrie Worsted by La Bien Aimée (75% Falkland Corriedale, 25% Gotland, 250 yds / 230 m – 100 g).

C1: 1 (3) skein(s), colourway Winterfell.

C2: 1 (3) skein(s), colourway Coquelicot.

If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 250 (750) yds / 229 (686) m of worsted-weight yarn in C1 and approx. 250 (750) yds / 229 (686) m of worsted-weight yarn in C2.

The wrap-size sample was knitted with Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino (100% non-mulesed merino wool, 137 yds / 125 m – 50 g), colourways Dusty Artichoke (as C1) and Hazel (as C2).

Needles: US 8 / 5 mm straight or 16 (24)“ / 40 (60) cm circular needles.

Notions: Stitch markers, crochet hook (to apply fringe), tapestry needle, sewing needle, two fabric strips measuring 7.5 x 36 (19 x 31)“ / 19 x 91.5 (48.5 x 78.5) cm (for optional lining), thread to match lining fabric (optional).

GAUGE
18 sts x 25 rows to 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch, after blocking.

CONSTRUCTION
This easy knit is made flat in one piece. It features wide and narrow stripes as well as slip stitch columns that runs along the whole length of the work and a simple i-cord edge. An optional lining which helps keep the edges of especially the narrower scarf from rolling is hand-sewn after blocking.
