Flos Ambulare {Design Your Own} Hats

The Flos Ambulare patterns are intended as a metaphorical and physical walk through the garden, paying homage to the plant dyed yarn produced by Lana Plantae. Each of the unique slipped + mosaic stitches are knitted together to create a garden inspired shawl, hat or yoke cardigan sweater!

The stitch patterns featured in the shawl + cardigan have all been converted to working in the round… simply mix and match to create your own hat! Four examples have been provided for you as a jumping off point!

This 33 pattern reads very much like an ebook. It contains a sizing formula, stitch library, design roadmap and worksheets to create your unique hats.

Construction Notes + Overview

This is a unique hat collection in that it is a ‘design your own’ pattern:
• I provide the formula to create hats for 7 sizes using heavy worsted weight yarn, and a stitch library.
• You choose your yarn, colors and design your hat(s) using any (or multiple) of the 12 slipped stitches.
• Each hat is worked from casting on the brim, working the body and decreasing to shape the crown.
• Hats are worked in the round, using small circumference circular needles or DPN’s.
• Includes measurements for 7 sizes, how to measure the head for hats and how to choose the size to knit.
• 3 main stitches are used: knit + slips + purls.
• Both written and charted instructions are included for each stitch in the library.
• Colors. 7 colors are used in the sample hats. Use as few as 2 or as many as you’d like!

Stitch Library

The 12 stitches to choose from are broken up into 2 st repeats, 4 st repeats and 6 st repeats. Each stitch includes written instructions, charted instructions as well as a thumbnail image of what each looks like worked.
