Inspired by a beautiful vintage crewel embroidery of flying Canada geese belonging to Beatriz of Fibre & Forge farm, the Flying Goose Socks feature a stitch pattern made up of cables, slip stitches, and wrapped stitches that look like a skein of flying geese (yes, the word for a group of flying geese is a “skein”, just like the word for a coil of yarn – how fitting!).

These cozy DK-weight socks are knit cuff-down, with a forethought heel and a wedge toe, including instructions for optional contrasting-coloured cuffs, heels, and toes.

SIZES
Extra-Small (Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large)/XS (S, M, L, XL) to fit actual foot circumference 6 (7, 8, 9, 10)”/15.2 (17.8, 20.3, 22.9, 25.4) cm, measured around the ball of the foot (the widest part). Negative ease is built in to the pattern. The length and height are adjustable. If you find that you are in-between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your socks to fit snug, or the larger size if you prefer a looser fit.

YARN
DK-weight sock yarn (or two strands of fingering-weight sock yarn held together with double the yardage), recommended in a blend of wool (for warmth) and nylon (for added strength and durability), in the following amounts:
Main Colour (MC): Approximately 189 (210, 231, 252, 273) yards/173 (192, 211, 230, 250) meters
Contrasting Colour (CC): Approximately 81 (90, 99, 108, 117) yards/74 (82, 91, 99, 107) meters
(Add MC and CC together if you’re using only one colour)
