For a long time, I thought about how to knit a shawl from the inside. I just managed to do it and here is my Focal Shawl.
The shawl is a triangular, slightly asymmetrical, worked from inside.

This shawl was designed to bring out the beauty of gradient yarn. This pattern is also suitable to use up all the odds and ends of fingering weight yarn.Original yarn used in this pattern was Flowers of YarnArt (1094 yds (1000 m)/ 8.82 Oz (250g)), colourway 267.

Finished measurements: after blocking – 81.1” (206 cm) wingspan along top edge, 34.6” (88 cm) deep.
The Focal shawl is made in the largest size you can make from one skein Flowers of YarnArt. I removed part of the first color so that it does not dominate the shawl.
You can make a smaller one by giving up sections 6 and 7 (69,3”(176 cm) and 28,3” (72 cm)) or just one of them (75,2”(191 cm) and 31,5” (80 cm)). However, size depends on how tight you knit. I’m knitting quite tight. Testers’ shawls were bigger.
The pattern was tested by members of my own group jolanta zwierzchowska designs. Many thanks to perfect test knitters: Ayala120 and terevalencia.
Here are some opinions my great testers (I hope they will forgive me):
I was intrigued by this shawl because it was different. You found the way to do a triangular shawl without having to go back on the wrong side with purl stitches. I have friends who only do knit as a rule ‘because they want to enjoy’. Your shawl also goes very fast because it is knit almost to the end without being garter.
Please note: the stitch pattern in this shawl is charted only.
This shawl is worked in the round on a circular needle. However, the initial 12 rounds are made using double pointed knitting needles. Turtial in the pattern shows exactly how to make them.
The chart is read from right to left for all rounds. The chart represents the odd rounds of the garment only. The even rounds are omitted. The even rounds are all knitted.

This pattern contains a diagram of all sections of the shawl on one page as well as all used charts in each section of the shawl. Besides, the pattern gives a written line-by-line description of each chart.

Gauge: after blocking - 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) = 18 stitches and 36 rows in stockinette pattern. Gauge is not critical here.
To work a shawl, you should know the following intermediate techniques: reading charts, basic decreases (ssk; k2tog), increase (yo).

Tools:
1 set double pointed knitting needles size 2 US (2.75 mm) or 3.00 mm and 1 set size 6 US (4.0 mm) as well as 32’’ (80 cm) or longer (length which suits you) circular needle size 6 US (4.0 mm).
4 markers in three colours (or shapes) and crochet hook size 4/E US (3.5 mm). To bind off the shawl, I advise you to use a crochet hook size 7 US (4.5 mm), you can use the needles too.

Materials: 980 – 1080 yards (900- 1000 meters) of gradient fingering weight yarn.
