Fold Wrap
SOON IN FRENCH
FOLD WRAP is a feminine cardigan with a belt tie and an elegant silhouette. The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down and has no finishing work.
The work is started at the back of the neck, where first the neck edge and then the top of the back yoke is shaped. The stitches from the back of the neck continue elegantly directly out into the fronts, and the work is shaped by working back and forth across both the fronts and the back of the yoke. Increases across the shoulders help shape the yoke and give the cardigan a beautiful and flattering fit. From here the front and back yoke are worked separately, before they are joined again while stitches are picked up and knitted along the right and left armhole. Further increases are worked along armholes to help shape the yoke and ensure a comfortable fit under the arms.
Once the yoke has been completed, the work is split into body and sleeves, that are finished separately. The body is worked back and forth and is finished with short rows, a twisted rib edge at the hem and an Italian bind-off for a beautiful and stretchy result.
The sleeves are worked in the round from the top down with decreases towards the wrists and are finished the same as the hem with a twisted rib edge and an Italian bind-off.
Finally, a belt is worked with buttonholes which allows it to be fastened to the cardigan. The belt can also be worn loose, depending on the desired look. This belt is both practical and decorative and highlights the elegance of the cardigan.

It varies from person to person how much positive ease you like in your clothes. To help you choose which size to knit, it can be helpful to measure one or more of your favorite cardigans, so you can compare the measurements to the ones listed above.
Generally, I would recommend between 15 and 30 cm of positive ease, depending on the look and fit you want. For reference, I have 18 cm of positive ease in my beige heather Fold Wrap and 29 cm of positive ease in the rust-colored version.
This results in slightly different look and fit, which you can use as a reference when evaluating which size and fit you would like.
