OVERVIEW
The Folke Sweater is a top-down seamless raglan sweater, worked in one piece for a smooth and comfortable finish. With its timeless fit and engaging waffle stitch texture, it’s a versatile wardrobe staple for both babies and children—perfect for everyday wear, layering, and active play.
The design features ribbed edges at the neckline, cuffs, and hem, giving the sweater a snug yet stretchy finish that helps it stay in place through playtime and cozy cuddles. The raglan yoke creates clean diagonal lines from the neckline to the underarm, ensuring a balanced and comfortable fit across the shoulders and chest. The waffle stitch motif adds beautiful detail and depth without feeling overpowering, making it both classic and fun to knit.
Worked from the neckline down, the sweater can easily be tried on as you go, allowing you to adjust the sleeve and body length for a personalized fit.

Inspired by little Folke, who loves puzzles and cuddles with mom and dad, this sweater captures that same sense of warmth, playfulness, and comfort.

Waffle stitch instructions are included in both charted and written form.

DIMENSIONS
The most important measurement when knitting this garment is the circumference of the individual. The length of the body and sleeves can be personalized, but the fit around the body is essential for choosing the correct size. Although the size names are categorized by age, each baby/child has their own unique shape. Therefore, I advise measuring the individual first and selecting the size accordingly. The size age should only be considered a general guideline if the individual is not present.

Finished measurements (body circumference):
The circumference of the sweater is measured around the widest part of the body (stomach/chest).
3-6 months: 42 cm
6-12 months: 48 cm
12-18 months: 51 cm
18-24 months: 61 cm
1-2 years: 68 cm
2-3 years: 72 cm
3-4 years: 76 cm

E.g. if the indiviudal has a stomach measurement of 70 cm, I would knit the size 2-3 years (72 cm), so the indiviudal has room to grow.

MATERIALS
3.5 mm circular needles
4.5 mm circular needles
Use the length you prefer. Since we will be using the magic loop method, a specific length is not critical. I personally use 40-60 cm needles.

GAUGE
18 sts = 10 cm after blocking. This is my own personal gauge, and not the suggested gauge on the yarn. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.
