This pattern can be made using 1,2 or 3 strands, Even bulky blanket yarn.  The more strands you use or thicker yarn the bigger your foot will be. 

 For a 1 strand rug it measures 15 inches wide by 26.5 inches long. Using Loops and Threads Soft Classics and a 3.5mm hook. Used about 300 yards. 

 
 For a 2 strand rug it measures 20 inches wide by 40 inches long. Using Big Twist Value and Red Hear Super Saver a 6mm hook. Used about 570 yards of each color.
